Bubbly and full of love for the Lord, Sheila has seen her life and that of her 14-year-old son transformed since she came to Mission SOLANO nearly a year ago. They were living in a house with relatives who had taken advantage of Sheila’s trusting nature and left her penniless. “My relatives told me they were moving and my son and I had to find somewhere else to stay,” she said. “They’d taken all of my money except $16 and I was desperate. I’d never been homeless before and I didn’t know what to do. The Lord brought me to the Mission! “When I first got here, I though I must be in Heaven because they didn’t turn me down!” Sheila and her son used the last of their money to take a bus from Vallejo to the Mission, where she found the help they needed to get back on their feet. “They taught me to trust again and to save money. They helped us find a place to live and kept our spirits up.” With the help of Mission staff, Sheila and TJ were able to find a room they could afford and are still receiving our help while they look for permanent housing. |
